Our Story | Adorable African Food – Authentically Fresh Nigerian Ingredients in Houston
There's a moment every African living abroad knows well. You're in the kitchen, ready to cook, and you reach for an ingredient that should smell like home, and it doesn't. It's frozen, factory-packed, and something essential has been lost in transit.
That moment is exactly why Adorable African Food exists.
Cynthia Egwuagu is a Houston-based entrepreneur, mother, and proud Nigerian who built Adorable African Food out of a deeply personal frustration with the inability to find truly fresh, authentic African ingredients in America that actually tasted like home.
"Too often, what's available are over-stored, frozen alternatives that have lost their natural taste, aroma, and nutritional value. I wanted to change that."
What started as a mission to feed her own family well grew into something much bigger, a brand dedicated to reconnecting the African diaspora with the real taste of home. Every product Adorable African Food carries is sourced directly from trusted farmers and community markets in Nigeria, hand-washed, carefully cleaned, and packed to preserve freshness and flavor from farm to your kitchen.
Today, Adorable African Food serves the Houston community and beyond at local farmers' markets and online with a growing catalog of authentic Nigerian ingredients, including fresh snails, naturally smoked Panla fish, fresh periwinkle, oil bean (Ugba), and carefully selected African vegetables.
But Cynthia's vision goes beyond selling ingredients.
"We are building a community of Africans who love to cook, share recipes, and celebrate their culture."
Whether you grew up eating egusi soup on Sunday afternoons or you're cooking it for your children for the first time, Adorable African Food is here to make sure the taste of home is never out of reach.
Adorably fresh. Authentically African.
